Dually Mods

Hey All,

Havent posted much but coming up on 5 years with my 17 in October, I havent done anything with the truck other than drive it for the most part, routine maintainece etc. Looking to do some light mods to it now that the warranty is going to run out soon, not looking to delete it as I cant in my state. Looking at some basic mods, Ill need tires, would like to update the wheels and get rid of the outdated 05+ look. Im also looking for a nice monitor, I kind of had my mind made up on the Bank derringer but im kinda taking a step back from that and looking into Proven emmissions on tuning just a small tune to get rid of the throttle lag.

Only 1 problem with the truck ive had since 2016 is I finally had the over head console fill with a little water after a wash, I never pressure washed the truck before but the one time I did I got some drips out of the upfitter switches. Im fairly confident its the cab lights as I dont have a sunroof, and it seems to be a common problem on the earlier trucks. Is there a aftermarket alternative or should I just get the updated parts from FORD.

Thanks,

Sarge

I have a banks I dash and a throttle commander. the I dash uses the obd2 and the throttle commander tees into the throttle connection. No lag and good selection of gauges.

How do you guys like the pedal commander type mods in poor weather conditions? I'm interested in snow and ice specifically. I would like better response on dry pavement when the truck is empty, but I don't mind the softer delivery on slick roads or when towing. When we made some enhancements to my dad's 6.4 the throttle response was much better over stock, but you have to have good throttle control in those conditions.

I don't blame you for wanting to change the wheels. I can't believe Ford has stuck with that design for so many years. If you have halogen headlights look into some type of lighting upgrade up front.

You can adjust the pedal commander from essentially stock to very agressive. Snow/ice is not a issue. Adjustment is easy and takes seconds.

The idash and pedal commander is a great start.

What about some mud flaps and a tool box.

I went with duraflap, they have the ribs on the tire side to channel the water down.
I wanted the King Ranch logo on them but King Ranch made them stop using it to advertise for them?
and yes I did the extra long so I have to be careful backing.

I went with the Husky's on the front. I had them on my 2011 F250 and just liked the way they looked.

I do have gator backs on the back of the truck, I was looking for something for the front just couldnt find anythig I like.

Senix,
Can you elaborate a little on the banks stuff? I had mymind set on the derringer but Ive been going back and forth on it daily between that and a custom tune, This truck basically live a sheltered life (literally) in a garahe 50% of the time, the other 50% its got a trailer of some sort pinned to it. I came from a pretty rock solid 6.0 so its been nice to just drive the truck for 5 years and not have to worry about all the other stuff. So far emmissions issues are non existant, and maintence has been easy and I keep a pretty rigorus schedule.

No tool box for me, but I am looking for a nice tonneau cover than I have and I may bite the bullet and by the H&S fuel filter update for the secondary filter, but as of now Ive had no issues.

Im really please with the truck I took its first empty trip since my break in miles a week or so ago and still managed to pull a respectable 17mpg out of the 4.10/6speed combo...Ill take it!

Thanks,

Sarge

Hey Sarge, I'd be looking at the fuel filter change a bit more in depth. If I remember correctly, it will void fuel system warranty

Banks make emissions friendly tunes that improve the overall efficiency of the truck. They can add a bit of HP but keep all factory safeties in tact. The idash does the monitoring and the Derringer does the tuning.

All CARB certified so if you travel to say, California, you would not have an issue.

They can be sold as bundle or by themselves and added to later.

A starting point would be the idash. Just plugs into the OBD port, takes literally as much time to mount a gps on the windshield to hook it up.

Then you can spend sometime playing with the things to look at.

If you ever throw a code it will pop up right away on the idash.

Running the Derringer and have an issue, then banks will revert back to all stock tuning and take itself out of the way.

Not a dirty tune.
