Hi All,
Given that I didn’t know the maintenance history on my ‘01 v10 I went ahead and replaced all the plugs and COPs. While doing so I noticed that all the clips on the COP connectors are broken/missing. Some of the plugs are very loose and slide off and on super easy. I think this could explain the random misfire I get sometimes. The code I pulled pointed to a COP issue.
I see that there are replacing plugs I can buy, but it looks like it would be a real pain to do them. Anyone done this before? If so, was it a pain and what did you find was the best process?
Also, any other ways people have solved this issue? There doesn’t appear to be a good way to zip tie them securely.
The best repair is to replace the connectors. Its just a simple splice.
Its not so much the act of splicing it that is difficult. It is more trying to get enough access to the wires for the rear COPs in order to splice them.
I did see an option where you removed the pins from the old plug and put them in the new one. Not sure if this would be easier or not.
