The lower bracket that the shock bolts to, on the driver’s side, just snapped in half! Wth.
Two weeks ago I had the truck up on stands and replaced the radius arm bushing, and didn’t see anything wrong with the lower shock mount, but then again I wasn’t really looking specifically at it.
I haven’t found a part number for this yet, still looking. If anyone happens to know, and any possible sources, please let me know.
any particular tips on actually doing the job to replace them? Quick survey seems to look like it won’t be a big deal, but any “gotchas”?
That number is an engineering number and I believe all shock mounts will have that number with the PN added to it.
I would call that a lower (L or R) shock mount. Try the engineering number on Ebay and see what you come up with.
Why cant it be welded and made stronger and put back on?
BTW what shocks you running? I have found stiff ones (Rancho) broke the mounts on a 86 K5 Blazer I had, always the left side.

Joining you in your misery. I Just noticed my driver's side spring perch broke - it is odd that this part isn't being reproduced! You can find the upper brackets all day long but no the lower ones.
I found a new old stock C5TZ18127A on e bay, hopefully that will fit my 1974 F250.

Based on everything I've seen on this part number, the C5TZ18127A and C5TZ18126A are for '66 through '73 2WD F100 and F250, and supposedly changed for '74.
But these things are like hen's teeth... I can't find anywhere. You're all going to cringe when I say this... but that damn shock on mine is still just hanging there. My daughter's friend's boyfriend is a welder for UPS and supposedly said he'll be able to fix this... but that hasn't happened yet!
Mine is also driver's side (i.e. "Left" side)... If you get this thing, and it doesn't fit yours, I may very well make you an offer to buy it from you!
Well I have one on a passenger side of a parts truck/actually a Bronco. So it is a 4wd and not a 2wd, so not sure if they are the same. Ben if you have one off a confirmed 2wd, have at the deal.
