As far as I have ever seen they are identical, even the same part number from Ford for all 1994.5-2003 7.3L F-Series.
Wow, I always wondered if someone would make a solid billet valve cover for the 7.3L 😎
I have seen them for 6.4L from Beans but never a 7.3L before. That must be a massive block of aluminum to start out.
The description says it starts as a 48 lb block milled down to 3 lbs
The only other set of covers I've seen are the farcated ones from either beans or psp.
I really like the idea of these but that is crazy expensive.
Yeah, I have seen the “PSP” that are made by Moroso. They are nice but not $750 for welded sheet metal. When I spoke to Moroso a couple years ago they mentioned they will be selling them direct to the customer and the price would be closer to $400 or something.
I bet Riffraff did them just because they could. No real reason to need billet, but ‘Merica, why not! LOL. The 100 pounds of aluminum per set probably cost hundreds each. I have seen some of the videos they have released of them machining their parts. I would love to see these things being done.
No, the later ones are double-wall whereas the early ones are single. Hit each variety with something and there is a huge difference in sound/vibration transmitted.
You'll get a sharp "ting" (ring like a bell) out of early covers and a dull "thud" out of the later ones. Of course they're interchangeable on the F-series (vans are different) so any 94.5-03 valve covers will work on any 7.3L pickup but there is a big difference in sound transmission between them.
I have read about that, but I also see where people have found the stamped covers on the later trucks as well. Complete with appropriate label on passenger side. I can't seem to find anyone selling specifically composite ones.
Coating Vcs with raptor or similar is reported to quiet some noise.Same would apply to oil pan.

I have an early 95, so assuming thin "loud" VCs. I will eventually get a newer set and line with bed liner to quiet things up.
Will have to give them a whack today and see how loud they are.
Just checked my 96, they aren't composite. Used a magnet and it sticks right to them.
I wonder if there's any benefit as far as noise reduction in these over the fabricated ones. I imagine thickness would play a part.
The stock valve covers are ALL ferrous metal. The earlier ones are just a single piece of stamped steel instead of having sound deadening technology applied.
