I had a video of it running but i cant find it. I realy likevthis sound. Throaty but not to noise and sounds different than most everything else on the rd. This is 2.5" in 3" out. Dumps over the rear axle. I couldn't find a way thatvi liked to run the exhaust all thecway.
I like the dynomax super turbos. Little burble at idle, would get a little loud at full throttle and quiet cruise. Reminds me of fox body Mustang GT. Will be quieter with tail pipe exit like stock.
Going WAY Back,,,,,(that"s what we old guys do best) in the late 70's and early 80's we all ran 65 or 66 Turbo Charged Corvair mufflers. Back then, they were supposed to have the least amount of BP. They did sound real nice. I think they had same size inlet and outlet. Can't remember but either 2 or 21/2.
I don't even know if they are available today...
I am sure there are some old hot rodders around that will remember. LOL
2.25 seems to be the ideal size for all around power and performance, paired with a set of turbo mufflers routed out the back. there is no need to think there is more to be gained with sound or flow.
This is a exhaust kit off ebay and spintech 600. Getting ready to redo the exhaust on my jeep from header back.
This will save time over pie cut bending the hole exhaust like I did on the ford I orderd enough for a few exhast systems. Going to try and run this muffler in the vertical down pipe just off the header.
I just picked up 2 of these not sure how loud they will be installing today
flowmaster hushpower pro series 2. They are not cheap vs other mufflers but are suppose to have a nice non raspy not crazy loud type tone. 2 cones inside for baffles.
if their too much I'll add a resonator in front of them.
If you don’t want to hear it in the cab then dyno max turbo or the walker equivalent. If you are interested google muffler flow charts and you will see that the dynomax turbos actually flow better than most.
I have a 68 mustang with a 331 stroker/headers/full dual exhaust with flowmasters and I cannot hear myself think 🤔 lol.
I am swapping them out for dynomax turbos.
For my '07 which had a Flowmaster muffler / welded set up already in place .... in aluminized steel when bought ... when it started leaking at the muffler weld and a seam, I ordered a complete 3" in / dual 2.5" out Legato system kit in SS, and added a 3"ID SS bullet to insert in front of the "muffler" I had initially put a 2.5" ID bullet in front of the FM. I have most recently added about 9 pounds of "resonating drone killing" weight clamped to the pipe under the cab.
Since becoming mine, my '77 has always gotten it's several sets of Turbo mufflers and pipes bent and welded locally. It had two "bullets" and pipes to the side when first bought, not good for me so it went to my muffler guy the next day. My muffler guy is now ill, aged, and likely the next set will be a dual turbo muffler kit in 2-1/4" pipe size like LMC offers. I've never had turbo mufflers drone or sound bad. I've used a set of turbo mufflers on several cars and pickups over the years since the early '70s. My muffler guy guaranteed his for life, but after about 3 sets, I bought the next set. Never had them leak, was replaced for loose baffling, etc.
A "bullet" is a long Cherry bomb glass pack", they make for decent resonators.
Well, I went Old School and cheap-ish with short glass packs on all of mine, 2.25" or 2.5" I forget.. placed the muffler up as close to the engine as possible, get lots of compliments on sound and no drone at all, even put an 18" glass pack on my 00 Excursion 5.4 when I got it, it had a flowmaster 10 on it and was terribly annoying. Now it sounds nice at idle and a lil raspy when you really get on it, now that I'm a tad older and 1/2 deaf, I like to hear the engine is running but it not be annoyingly loud. My 98 Expy has stock exh at 185k and you can't hear it running... I keep all my exhaust single in/out unless I've built the engine and want the flow of duals.
