HI all. I'm another newbe to this site..
and need some info please, My son has just purchased a 87Bronco II 4X4 everything works good but has noise from underneath front floor it sounds like the the winning of the trans.
It is manl 5 speed shifts great pulls strong.I opened up the pan
at the bottom ,there were no signs of metal, I change dope and
still have that sound.it sounds as if the 4 low is ingaged but it's not.it goes thru all gears OK into 4th it stops and then to overdrive it starts again.what the heck is this > and is it goeing to be a problem??
Thanks for your replys Tshelton
It sounds like the gears are just worn a bit. 4th is direct drive so it shouldn't make any noise.
I wouldn't worry about it too much if it shifts good.
Jimmy
I went ahead and pulled the trans. today to put in a new throw out bearing. and because I had to pull it back so far I said what the heck I'll just fix it all the way.that noise.
does anyone know if it would be a bearing I know you said gears worn,,, thanks
O-yea this trans has a pan on the bottom like the auto would have. come to think of it that was strange.. this it a top loader shifter.it also has a drain plug. the fluid I put back in was a
synthetic blend valvoline 80w-90 was this ok to use??
thanks tshelton
can I visually see the wear ,once I get in to it ? I seen another post stated they had the same noise.someone replyed maybe
secondary shaft bearing .What do you think??
