Cabin air filter? Where might that be?
I've been fishing around in there with a thin (1" ID) hose attached to my shop vac, but I have a big blower used to winterize pools and spas. Maybe I'll have better luck with that.
Can anyone tell me where the air intake for the blower is?
Our trucks don’t come with one. The intake is under the driver side cowl under the wiper. This thread will give you some idea.
Ok. Still haven't found it. Had some stuff on my plate.
When I run the floor vent only I barely smell it, dash vents are bad, and defrost vents are the worst. I am guessing it's not on the intake side, or I would smell it the same from all. But why dash and defrost? Where could it be?
Ok. I removed the dash part by the steering wheel/radio. I guess this is the "bezel". It got me to the dash vents which I fished my shop vac hose through again with no luck.
The fact that I couldn't really smell it on floor vents but did on dash or defrost told me it must be in that box beside the heater core with all the baffle doors inside to send air to various locations. So I opened up the heater core box again and aggresively shoved the shop vac hose in the baffle box with the vent selector in each position in turn until, while in defrost, I heard a "thoomp" in my vac hose. Turned it off, switched the hose to the blower side and blew this out.
I then put it all back together and ran the vents. Much better, but not gone. So I poured a shot of rubbing alcohol in the intake under the drivers side wiper a few times with the selector in each position, adding more when I no longer smelled alcohol coming out. This seems to have taken care of the smell so far. I'll see how it smells tomorrow...🤞
Thanks for all your help. Once again, I don't know what I would have done without you guys.
