How hard is it to rewire a transmission? Guy has a 95 f250 7.3 that im looking to maybe buy. He said the only thing wrong with it is the trannie wiring. Apparently he had/has a chip and had to "un-marry the trannie wiring." I assume all id have to do is rewire it, or soder the wire back together.
What are you trying to do here? If you just need a trans then the vehicle wiring that he hacked up is irrelevent, if you're looking for a wiring harness look elsewhere.
P.S.
Ok I think I misunderstood originally, you're looking at buying the truck not just the trans.
The sellers description of the problem doesn't make a lot of sense, the only thing computer controlled in that truck would be the trans and a chip plugs into the computer so there is no reason to alter any of the wiring. My guess is the truck in general is a hack job so you're probably better off avoiding the headache completely.
That's kind of what I'm trying to figure out. The only chips that I've seen for it you unplug the ECM and plug it in between the ECM on the firewall. So I'm not real sure what happened.
Some have hacked up a single switch to control torque converter lockup/unlock.
That is messing with the wiring.
Go look at truck, and take pictures of what the mess is, post them back, then we will all know.
