I am just wrapping up an epic complete rebuild of a 1966 F250. literally in the home stretch. i began putting all my refurbished aluminum trim back on. for some unknown reason, the cowl trip piece is misaligned very badly with the door trim to the right and mildly badly with the hood trim on the left. i don't ever remember there being such a huge disconnect on this trim when i took it off the vehicle 6 years ago. anybody else run into this issue? this seems to have come out of nowhere. i can drill out new holes but before i do that, i wanted to check in to see if i am losing my mind. I am using the cheap-*** LMC hardware which might explain a lot right there but c'mon - its just a stock hole and a simple bracket. even LMC would have a hard time messing that up. See the pics.
I could not tell from pic's may try reversing the trim piece between the hood and the door??? Suspect more knowledgeable member will chime in with solution?
Maybe the holes aren't drilled in the correct places. The forward hole should be about 1" above the bottom of the cowl; the rear one a little more.

Reason: spelling
Seems to me that there is a bit of wiggle room in the mounting holes. Might have to have all three pieces loose to get them straight. I know it took me several tries, and I never moved the cowl piece.
When I put mine on I installed the clips on the trim slid them in the holes and taped them on. It allowed me to make adjustments. Sometimes the clips can be rotated or trimmed to fit. Then when all looks good tighten them down. One of the big problems with the trim is looking end to end will look good but the side view looks terrible and vice versa. Just try to find a happy medium.
after wrastling with these buggers for most of last night, it is all about placement of the clips in the holes. turns out there is a lot of fineagling required to get the trims to all line up. i think i just about have this figured out now.
thanks for everyone's input!!
here's a tip - stay away from the LMC hardware for this. Dennis Carpenter's materials were way better quality.
Love the color scheme. Hate to be a critic, but I think you’d be much happier with the look of your truck if the bottom edge of the hood were painted (tape line follows the holes for the hood trim) the way the factory did the 2-tone. To me the white below the hood trim stands out like a sore thumb...just my opinion, so take that for what it’s worth! 😊
