'48-'50 hood trim clips

A little more progress; Only three of the mounting clips for the side and front opening trim survived when I removed the trim from my hood. I never got around to ordering any and I was afraid I would scratch the paint on the hood or damage the trim installing them anyways. So, I made some stainless screws to mount the trim with. I just finished TIG welding them a few minutes ago. Now I can clean up the trim and get it installed. Here is a couple of photos.

Thanks, Mark

Boy I like that idea. The spring clips are prone to breakage and, like you feared, screwing up a paint job. I might have to play with this on a 52 and then
on a 51. Thx. Stu

I used some plastic christmas tree clips to attach one of the nostril trim pieces on mine. They seem to be holding up well, and there is no worry about damaging paint with them.

Very nice Mark. You guys that are able to come up with and apply fabrication ideas are very impressive. If I cant find it in a catalog, or some body that has a piece I need ,Im dead in the water.. Fabrication is a talent I just don't have, but admire those of you who do.

Thanks guys for the replies and kind words. I installed the nose trim and hood latch this afternoon and the screws did make it easy to install the trim. I thought I had really messed up on the hood latch though. I screwed the latch stud in and left it long so I could see how much to adjust it. My latch stud has a little bend in it and I left it way too long and it went all the way through the latch plate and locked on the top edge of the plate. When I finally figured out what had happened, I padded a flat piece of steel bar and stuck it between the hood and grill top and pounded the latch stud over a little to unlock the hood. After I readjusted the stud, the hood latches and unlatches fine.
Thanks again, Mark
