I have been away from FTE for a while now as the only Ford we owned was a 17 Expy, but I just picked up a used (and abused) 2001 F350 SRW CC Long Box. Basically just a year older than my forever missed 02. This thing needs a bunch of work on the front end, but parts are ordered and it is headed to the shop on Monday to start getting her into good shape. Motor seems to run well, tranny shifts good, but the body is rough. Looking forward to getting back into the 7.3 family!!
It looks decent from a distance, but there are a lot of dents and dings on her. It's a one owner pickup with 320k miles. Motor wise it was taken decent care of but he front end is in bad shape. Putting new bearings, ball joints, tie rods ends, sway bar bushings, axle u joints (while we are that far) to start. Probably need a gear box as well, but we will see. Then I will probably replace the front springs. Have a oil leak I need to track down as well (minor). Goal is to get it road worthy and put it to work.

Congratulations and welcome back! You call that rough? Looks pretty decent to me even if it does have dents and dings. At least it doesn't have holes rusted through. Or is this just my MN calibration talking?

Agreed. That looks to be in excellent shape in WV terms.
Mechanical things can be “easily” fixed, but that body rot is hard to deal with. At least for me that is. I’m sure there’s a body guy out there somewhere that would disagree though.

Well I guess compared to a MN 20 year old pickup it is a cream puff!! I have put over 200k miles on all of my pickups and never looked like they were used as a job site dumpster. I just find it hard to see people how can get so many dents and dings on vehicles. I don't care how old a work truck is at least try not to hit the side of it with whatever you are putting into the bed. The bed on this is the worst part. Once I get everything solid on it that will be coming off for a utility bed.
Underneath looks good.
Drove it around last night again and cant wait to get that front end work done. I love the sound of these 7.3's!!
Got all the front end work done and through a headache rack on I built for a 19 I had. Surprised it fit so we'll!! It will do until I find the right service body for it.
Nice looking truck. If I had one regret with my truck it is that it isn't a long bed.....
Thanks
I put about 400 miles on it yesterday and I absolutely love it! I have told people if I could have rebuilt my 02 when it died I would still be driving it today, Yesterday confirms that thought. I have a bunch of stuff to do to this thing still, but even with a worn out steering box, crap shocks and bone stock it was great to drive.
