air conditioning retrofit

I have an '87 F250, 300, without AC. I want to put in AC but not an R-12 system so am going to look for a 134 system out of a newer truck. Does anyone know if Ford starting putting 134 AC's into trucks with the 300 engine before they discontinued that engine? If so, that is what I will try to find as things will probably match up better.

I believe Ford started using R134A in 1994 ? If not , by 1995 all the vehicles had it . Im pretty sure you can find the parts you need from 1994 to 1996 .

I think Paul is right on 94 being the first year for r134. It's what my 94 has.
