My 2000 F-250 Super Duty Diesel has started stalling while I'm driving. Here are my observations:
Originally stalled more when the fuel was about 1/4 of a tank
Stalls more when towing a 6-7k lb trailer
Stalls are more likely when I hit a pothole
Stalls are less likely if it's been sitting for a while, like when I first start driving it
For about 75% of the stalls, if I coast the truck engine starts working again
Anyone have similar problems or have an idea of what's going on? Maybe something with the fuel injection? Pretty lost here and have already taken it into one shop but they failed to fix it (after $700) and I will not be returning to them.
If your stall occurs primarily at 1/4 of a tank, that sounds like a known problem with the fuel pickup allowing air into the fuel system. Do some reading on "the hutch mod" for a fix.
