This is the lift pump out of a 91 f350 7.3L zf5 dually 4wd
the pump replacement did not have the bend as much as this pump.
its in the truck and the truck is having fuel delivery issues. See “did i toast the injection pump with this stuff” thread.
2 different local suppliers said this pump in picture is not available so i installed the new pump without the bend thinking its the new design and works from the lower part of the cam.
so.....being that i did not position the cam lobe into the “upward” position .... i may have pieces of the pump lever in my crankcase and the fuel pump is not working and.....
Step one...
looks like the pump needs to come out.

It's pretty hard to install them wrong. Just tuck the lever under the cam eccentric and bolt it down. If you managed to get the arm on top of the eccentric well that's a issue.
If you've got the cam eccentric lobe down you'd better have super strong finger muscles. It's almost impossible to compress the arm plus start the bolts at the same time while standing next to an engine on a engine stand let alone leaning over a fender. Rotate the engine and make sure the lobe is up.
If your fighting with compressing the pump arm rotate the engine, if not just dip the tip down, push it in and then bolt it up so your under the lobe. Did two that way, never looked where the cam lobe was and didn't have any trouble.
Thanks,
its in and running off a can until i drain the tanks and clear the lines.
opened up the first fuel filter after the cleaning additive and it was full of cottage cheese looking stuff.
not sure what the tank selector part will be full of....its obviously the reason for the stalling after running so great.
long/short is quick or easy fix methods are not always the way to go. Lost a lot of time and money and energy to end up dropping the tanks and cleaning the lines anyway.
