A vacuum hose has come off or cracked. Something like that. Remember everything you did. I know you were messing with the wiring and the alternator, but I doubt that is causing the problem. If you want to make sure, put your meter on the + wire of the coil, and the engine block. You should have at least 9v on the coil + when the engine is running.
