Electrical Short
I am thinking of buying this 89 F150 with a 300 inline 6 EFI for $500. the body is good and everything but it has an electrical prob. when you turn the key on, it burns the wire in two that goes to the fuel pump. got any ideas? Fuel pump bad? The guy said it ran good when he parked it, and went out the next morning to go to work and wouldn't start.

I would go back and un-plug the fuel pump at the tank. If the wire still burns in two, then the wire must be touching the frame somewhere. If it doesn't burn in two with the pump disconnected, I vote it is the pump.
