I have been trying to troubleshoot a dash and instrument cluster backlighting issue and running out of ideas.
issue: no blacklisting in cluster or dash
I have power to windows and radio and all the other warning lights odometer and such work fine on the cluster.
I have:
1. removed and checked all fuses in driver side fuse panel under steering wheel
2. replaced light switch with brand new one
3. Checked cluster wire connectors (wiggling them)
4. Checked pins on back of cluster with my voltmeter
it appears to me that the orange wire from the light switch is what sends power to the back of the cluster then is routed to the pin next to it back to the dimmer switch (right?)
I have not checked grounds..maybe? But where?
also is there another fuse box that I need to check?
anyone have a pin out of the large connector on the back of the cluster?
I'm new..ish to Fords but not new to fixing electrical or mechanical problems.
I assume you were asking if there were any burnt out bulbs? No there are not any i took the cluster out and checked all the bulbs visually and with my meter. I am thinking there is a relay that all the bavklights are fed off of but I can't see where it is at that is why I would like to know if anyone had that diagram for the wiring
There are some relays under the dash, down by your feet, drivers side where the heater\AC blows out air. I remember I had to replace one once, can't remember why or what they controlled.
