Hey all recently gained possession of a wrecked 2003 f350 lariat extended cab 7.3 power stroke traded Cranks just no diesel fuel feeding in.
for a clapped out 1500 Chevy. Looks like I am going to be putting a new cab on and going through the motor slowly but the first order of business is finding a cab and a new wiring harness. This is my second 7.3 and I’ve been on this forum for years finding answers but I’m at a loss for what will fit and be needed for this revival to be done correctly. I appreciate all advice in advance.
Not sure what all you have in mind for the finished product, but a lot of times a complete donor is easier to find than just a cab. Plus that could save you loads on the small nickle and dime stuff that tends to be an after thought. Also don't rule out the possibility that this trucks becomes the "donor".
I have found a complete cab with the engine harness and complete dash but it’s from a 2001 truck not sure if that harness is completely compatible?? 1400 doesn’t sound bad for a southern cab and applicable parts. And of course only gave it a hit of crack to try to start before we winched it on appreciate the concern. My plans for the truck is to make it road legal for use as a welding truck and haul hay. What would cause no power coming to the fuel pump besides the inertia switch?

Could be fuses, or a relay sounds like it got hit pretty hard , could have jarred something loose
Listor is right. Only two other things directly in the fuel pump circuit besides the inertia switch that can cut power. Have you checked the fuel pump relay is getting power from the PCM Power Relay and ground signal from the PCM?
I once had an old 6.2 diesel that I picked up for free. The guy said 'it runs on ether' I took out the glow plugs, all of them had the tips blown off. I showed him how easy it was to add a little fuel to the intake to see if it would run. Ran great. The same could be done with these, just need to know where to add fuel so you don't blow something up. You can't run it that way, but you can make sure it will run. The only thing ether is good for is seating the beads on stiff difficult tires. It should never be used on any type of engine.
