Middle of haying. Ran outa baling twine. F350 hooked to loaded hay trailer in field, '07 Ranger down with dead battery.....So the 65 saved the day and made the 50 mile round trip to get two boxes of twine. First time this truck has earned it's keep on the farm. What started as a frustration, running outa twine, turned into a pleasant break and enjoyable drive.
Thanks John and 5Star. My F100 fits right in here.
I rebuilt the baler about a decade ago, Ford New Holland and it's dedicated tractor is also a Ford....1964 851 which I also rebuilt a few years back. I'm growing old on my little farm, but I keep on getting 'er done with these old Fords.
Thanks for the kind words Jamie, Dan and 53Deere. It's all a labor of love...course we all know that well. These old machines bring such satisfaction to our lives.
And Charles...yuppers, that's a heavy haul! yeehawww
I was only going 8 miles from the sawmill to home with that load of wood, and 6 of that was on gravel/dirt roads at 25 mph max. I didn't scale out when they filled me up, but I'm sure it was twice what the nameplate says I should have been carrying (10K GVWR) since the truck with steel bed is 7K empty (with gravitationally-challenged me driving). Anyhow I don't make a habit of it!
