Hey all,
buddy of mine just bought a 94 f250 with a 5.8. Anyone who has read any of my posts knows I have a 94 f150 with a 5.8. He was asking me about emissions deleting stuff. I told him I would post about it before we did anything. When I deleted the smog pump and did a ignition system refreah On my 94 5.8 I blew both my head gaskets within 2,000 milez. (Which I used as an excuse for a Full motor and Tranny rebuild). Has anything else experienced issues like I did after deleting emissions stuff on their truck like I did on mine or do y’all think it was purely coincidental. This is the truck he runs a business out of so he does t want to take any serious chances.
Any input is appreciated thanks guys
If it works…. leave it alone. I deleted the air injection system on my truck only because of the GT40 head swap. I kept EGR and a new catalytic converter.
Its a can of worms not needing open, being 25yrs old, and something breaks, instead of coming loose, depending on the rust, then he's down for the count, it doesnt rob hp.
I wouldn't mess with it just to mess with it. I deleted the AIR pump when I went to GT40 heads and a modern CAT, otherwise it would still be there.
The EGR and EVAP systems are beneficial for mileage and I wouldn't advise anyone to delete them. The AIR system is there for the benefit of the CAT, and if isn't present or doesn't need AIR support then the system can go away IMHO, but emission authorities disagree.
