Disagree on every level. It's insane costly to get 700 N/A horsepower in a Windsor and it won't most likely be on pump gas. I challenge you to find any advertised cubic in Windsor, (less than $23k) including Ford performance's 351 stroked to 460 cubes that will make 700 N/A horsepower. T-REX's 427 Windsor is 700hp on pump gas for $23000. For $23K Godzilla could prolly hit 2000+ HP. You can't run with the new stuff, Hang it up

I *believe* its not much, like a clutch plate or two. The 7.3 wasn't designed to be an occasional boat hauler, it was engineered to be a bullet proof, long life commercial alternative for companies not wanting, or not allowed to use, diesel. I don't believe Ford skimped on the rest of the power train as it is Ford's new HD gas flagship.

You asking about the engine or the Powerglide ?

There are Powerglides out there behind 3,000 hp monsters - now there isn't much GM or any GM parts still in it at that point but they do well.
As far as the engine holding up, these 7.3's are built like a brick ****house. I think you're going to see a lot of crazy builds with them. LS's all over the country are pissing themselves right now.

Let me know when those 400CFM 7.3 heads are on the market.

400CFM heads not needed. Factory head with port and polish will net you 790HP. You can try to slice and dice this comparison but no way can a Windsor run with this engine dollar for dollar, HP for HP. A tune with E85 fuel on a stock 7.3 is 600HP and you can cruise around without a care in the world. Even turn on the AC. Out with the old, in with the new. Again show me a 700HP Windsor for under $23K

Okay. Easy as falling out of a tree, it seems. They'll be common by year's end. You certainly do need airflow to get to a horsepower level. That will never change.

I drag race and run a turbocharged 331 stroker (based off Ford 302 pushrod). But you might be wrong here. It’s not really more cost effective to make 700hp n/a with a Windsor.

I can admit that going real fast is never necessarily cheap by any means and the new 7.3 is such a stout engine. Seems like it makes good power and only time will tell how reliably. But all the signs point to this being a pretty badass design.

I for one would love to see more of these modded 7.3s.

700 hp today is a very easy number to hit with alot of engines running stock bottom ends, the problem with this engine is when you go for big power with alot of boost, headgaskets are **** and dont hold boost well due to slits to help with cooling can you say hello older failed eco boost design, why copy a failed design?. Not a huge ford fan anyway tbh but if I had to run a ford on the track Coyote would be my choice easy handles 4k hp dry deck ect ect, a much better built engine imo.

Lol, that is a troll move. In his defense vipers where making 1100rwhp w/ twin turbos and engine in the car with all the accessory power robbing equipment on running race gas stock internals maybe 17yrs ago. I can't remember what they made supercharged.
