As mentioned, you have to push in on the first section of the escutcheon to access the pin, then drive it out with a small pin punch. The spring is stiff and hard on the fingers. You really don't want to scratch the chrome with hard tools like screwdrivers or such. It helps to have a couple of nylon glass installation tools to hold the escutcheon open so you can remove the pin. Not too many of us were blessed with 3 hands.
