Unhappy Transmission blown or?Was going on an on ramp to a highway, my truck started vibrating and sputtering like it was running out of fuel and wouldn't go past 55mph. Suddenly BLAM! A cloud of black smoke. Pulled over, had full rev range in park and neutral and went back on the road, shifted normally from first, getting to second went a bit over 2500 before shifting then in third it would stay at 60 and go all the way to 3000rpm+ before starting to bog down again. I have no engine light or anything. Did I lose my overdrive or is this engine based? What kind of parameters should I look for using FORScan?
Tell us about your truck, year/model, miles, any mods, last things you repaired or replaced.
Always helpful to load up all the PIDs in the how-to thread below and log some idle time, a normal drive, and a WOT run, or a run to recreate the issue and capture it.
How is the transmission fluid level? When was the last time it was serviced?
An audible "Blam" and black smoke during hard acceleration would point to a blown CAC boot. I would expect it to keep smoking when you pulled back on the road though.
