Hey everyone, Getting the van put together pretty good now. coming to the stuff I've held off on so I would like suggestions. The rear tank has been disconnected so I'll have to drop it. Don't know if the pump is any good or not so just going to change it and as long as I'm under there I may as well drop the front tank too because the gas gauge doesn't work and it's probably the ground wire. plus the new tank valve to switch them back and forth. So I'd like to know what your preferences are for the 2 low volume tank pumps, are both pump identical? and is there a preferred tank valve you guys prefer to use?
I get this done and the only thing left to do is get the AC fixed. which I bypassed the pressure switch and the unit works so I'm guessing the R-12 leaked out.
the 2 low pressure pump and the 2 tanks was changed not so long times before i bought my van. But the rear tank have a leak just under the ring who holds back the fuel pump. Just see that on the road in a gas station when the gasoline has invaded the floor underside of the Van. Make our trip road Iowa city to NY just with the front tank. I checked that at home. This ring (and gasket) was new too but i saw this brand new ring had an outside diameter just a little insufficient than the original. Therefore he requested an adjustment which unfortunately does not fully fit into the ears on his exterior, but it does not leak now .
This rear tank doesn't work immediately and the gauge too. After trying few things, i've found the problem was with the swicth valve on the frame rail. Not easy to find a new one from here. Find only on Ebay (but the seller doesn't send overseas, it's an other story ... Remember also this switch valve was not new but rebuild by Dorman. Also the price: $250 !
Good luck for your work !

Thanks Ketch, I do believe this is the valve I will need. https://www.ebay.com/itm/274578625727 As for the low volume fuel pumps, I still don't know if I should go for AC Delco, Bosch or Delphi. To me they all look the same but I know the electrics are better in some than in others.
Well it's been quite a while since I've had a chance to work on the van, It's become more of a storage unit than anything else, but I finally managed to get the fuel pump for the rear tank ordered and I also ordered the fuel switch valve, total was about $225.00. I've been sitting around trying to decide if I needed to buy a new truck or not as my old F350 is rusting away and I did and oil change, pilled the oil stick out and couldn't get it back in, I realized the tube was broke in two from rust, and I have been having fits over whether to sell both the van and truck, then buy a new truck or fix things. I had a guy offer me $4k for the van the way it sits now, but I turned him down, IDK maybe I shouldn't have, it still runs rough...LOL. Parts will be here by the end of the month, so I should have it repaired by some time in June hopefully.
WOW, surprised, Fuel pump and line retainer clips came in today. After work I guess I'll go dig up the wire wheel and knock the rust off from around the pump opening to seat the new pump, I do have two quick questions.
1) should lube the O-Ring gasket with petroleum jelly, or something else? Nothing at all?
2) should I paint the outside of the gas tank to keep it from rusting further or just leave it alone?
