1968 F100

I have recently purchased a 1968 F100 and a 1968 C10 Avion slide on camper. I would welcome any input in to suggesting what suspension upgrades would be required to cope with the extra load. Regards Tod

Do you know the GVWR of the truck or what the camper weighs?

As long as you're within reason of your truck's rated weight, I would start with new springs, new shocks, and good tires all the way around and see how you like it. Also, make sure all your steering and suspension is good to go...e.g. rag joint, steering gear, tie rods, new radius arm bushings and i-beam bushings along with new king pins. Beyond those items, I don't expect you'll want any add on items. You can try a stabilizer bar in front and back but not until you've tried it without first.

I can't find a direct source of info, but a C-10 is a 10 foot camper, right? The C-11, the follow-on model, is 11 foot. The C-11s weigh 2200 to 2700 lbs according to posts from a couple users here:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f41...ion-73739.html

So the C-10 will be what, 1800-2000lbs?

I think you are way over for a '68 F100.

Hey Steve, I believe the C10 is about 1500 pounds. I have read elsewhere that the installation of heavier springs and or airbags and gas shocks will get the job done. Also converting the front end to disc brakes and installing a heavy sway bar would not hurt
. Thanks Todd

I have seen pictures of campers that look way heavy on older ads and they were probably on F100's. Of course they were pictures.

3 things at the top of the list in no order:HD shocks. pick any good quality shock that will fit, Rancho is my go to, but they many have one for your truck, try another MFG

Swaybar either add if not present or consider a larger diameter IF you are driving and experience a lot os lean and sway on corners:

PROGRESSIVE RATE LOAD LEVELING HELPER SPRINGS. if you have any sagging then this and it fits YOUR F 100: https://www.hellwigproducts.com/prod...rd&Model=F-100
