What the hell happened to this thing having 400 miles to a full charge?
Wow, glad I didn't put in for a reservation back then. I knew this was going to change but Wow down to 230, which really means 180 on a good day.

230 miles for the standard battery, 300 miles for the extended range battery, it's NEVER been 400 miles. Those estimates also take into consideration 1000lbs of passengers and cargo.

They most certainly did when they 1st started to talk about these, which is why I was interested. But it was so hard to find info on it.. battery size/ charging rates etc.
Wish I had taken a screen shot as I am sure it won't be found now. I was just looking

I think you may be confusing the Ford with another EV truck, perhaps the Rivian? I've been following this from the very begining and I also had a reservation for one that I had to set aside temporarily due to circumstances beyong my control. Not one single time has Ford ever stated their truck would get 400 miles to a charge.

The Battery and Control system is nestled inside the frame and weighs 1800 lbs. Thas a 6500 lb. truck put together. Is an awesome 200 mile a day commuter.

Tons of people drive near 200 miles several times a week taking kids to activities etc. You need the high amp charger of Course ! Its guaranteed to degrade no less than 30% over 7 years, thats near 5% a year from date of birth. We know all about Apples batteries and carrying a Battery with us over a weekend.

I think it was back in 2017 when they were trying to compete with the Rivian, but it certainly was not saying 230 miles because my Bolt did better. I was going to buy one but without the Specs on the battery/charger capacity etc I said I would wait till they actually brought it onto the ground before I would buy.
I think the 230 is going to be a disappointment to anyone in COLD country or HOT country where heat and AC are needed a lot. And I can't see where the 1000# of cargo/people gets you is listed, would appreciate the link if you have that............ because I can't understand why they would say that and not what the miles would be empty.
Not sure if you have driven EV's before or not. For those who haven't, they won't understand how it is in real life driving... not 25-30mph on back roads and they say 230
I'm not trying to fight here, I want one but not an over priced pos that won't deliver. BTW I ordered and bought a 2020 F350 and it's my 2nd F350 (had an '06 F350, 97 Ram 1500 ) so I am not new to trucks, and I have been driving BEV since 2014

The range you saw was from a preproduction vehicle so more than likely, the software wasn’t finalized or the display for the range was intentionally set up that way for marketing purposes and to get the public talking about the Lightning and obviously it worked.
With that being said and as far as I know and everything that I’ve read about, at no time has Ford or the people behind the Lightning ever said that the vehicle would achieve 400 miles of driving range.
It would be very nice though if if could do that range.

Ummmm, who in their right mind would purchase, in your words, “an overpriced POS” regardless if it delivers or not. 🧐
Just curious.

Yes that is what I am thinking of and referring to.

People do it every day LOL I did with the Bolt EV that had manufacturer defects that GM wouldn't address... then the sandbagging of the battery fire issue, they now have it back.

Can someone actually show me the EPA Test Data for the F150 LIghtning?
Because I can't find it and the more I read the FINE PRINT on Ford's site I keep seeing, and I am quoting from FORD site...
"based on full charge. U.S. EPA-TARGETED range reflecting current status based on analytical projection consistent with U.S. EPA combines drive cycle"
Anyone else notice the key words here... Targeted... based on analytical projection.
Again, I've not ever heard of the EPA doing testing with any special WEIGHT on a vehicle. If I am wrong please so me the evidence on this with a link.
Again, I am not trying to fight here, just have an actual discussion on this truck... which I will probably buy

You're thinking of the Riven truck, they boasted 400 mile range with the extended range battery pack. Also keep in mind the range estimates for the F-150 lighting are with a 1,000 lb. payload. So if the truck is empty the range will be more than 300 miles.
