I've owned a couple Tundra's now. 300k miles or so. Anyone own a Tundra and then a F250 that can comment on the ride comparison between the two?
The things I hate about the Tundra are the ride...and well, that about it. Bed bounce sucks big time. My wife hates it even more than I do. A stiff ride is understandable, but the Tundra on concrete highways when towing will break your damn teeth sometimes. It can be bad unloaded too.
What are the most common mods folks are doing here, other than wheels & tires? I'll likely get a Lariat in black with the 7.3 if I can find one.
The tundra is sportier, tighter turning radius, rides smoother. It shouldn’t be rough pulling, mine never was. You may be bouncing off the bump stops.
As far as the F250 lower the tire pressure and TPMS (to a safe level for what you do), get the base front springs, no camper package, and put some good shocks on it. They arent bad.
I had an 08' Tundra back in the day. I hated it for any type of work due to the flimsy frame. It's funny how they bragged about how strong that truck was but the tailgate would jam due to frame flex if you weren't parked perfectly. Also my bed contacted my cab twice while towing a 24' TT. They are fine trucks for hauling groceries but getting in to a SuperDuty will be night and day difference.

little confused about this post. you're looking for a "smoother ride" and looking at truck with solid front axle?! If you want a better ride (better everything vs tundra) look at F150s.
There is no comparison between F250 and tundra.
I’m not sure a heavy duty truck is the right fit for you. If your concerned about ride quality than maybe a half ton might be a better option. As someone that has owned 3 new tundras in the last few years I can assure you that the ride quality on the tundra is much better than the f250. My wife wants me to sell the f250 and go find something else because of how bad the ride is, each time we take the truck I hear about it so it’s something I have considered changing recently.

You need to know the year too.
I had a '97 F-250 7.3 diesel, a 2000 F-250 7.3 diesel and a 2016 F-250 6.7 diesel. You cannot even compare the ride and quiet of any of those trucks to my 2020 2500.
I am sure that it is the same for the newer F-250s as well.
So a 2022 F-250 is probably going to ride better and be quieter than a early/mid teen Tundra.
I can only compare my former 2015 Tundra that I owned for 5 years to my 2020 F-150 and my 2021 F-250.... The F150 will ride like a car. The tundra rides like garbage but it's smoother than an F-250 that's for sure.

I think that your butt-o-meter needs recalibrating.
I can't speak to the Ford, as I am currently driving a GMC, but my 2500 rides great. Better than my 2017 Expedition, and quieter too. And the Expedition had an independent rear suspension!
I am sure that a new F-250 has a similarly comfortable ride.

A 2WD Super Duty with no chassis modifications rides pretty close in comfort and handling to an F-150. Yes, I know some must have 4WD, so don't bother pointing that out. I'm just raising the 2WD as a possibility since there are some who don't know they build them that way. I got an E-locker that covers a lot of the 4WD territory. Not all, but a lot of it.

Thanks, thats the kind of feedback I was looking for. My wife hates the bed bounce in the Tundra. Maybe is the E rated tires I have on it. I’m not worried about a stiff ride. I just don’t want to deal with the constant bounce/shake we get on this truck, especially when towing. I’ve had it with both my Tundras.

Sorry if this post offends anyone.
I know that I am on the wrong website, but if you are looking for the best riding 1/2 ton, you have to go with the Ram. Everyone, and I mean everyone agrees that the Ram 1500 is the smoothest riding truck.
The F-150, however, is usually described as having the worst ride of the Big 3 pickups. Jiggly and wiggly.
I moved up from an '07 Titan to an F-350. No doubt the ride is stiffer in the F-350. But I didn't buy my F-350 for a smooth ride, I bought it so I could tow a heavy trailer.
The Superduty ride can be softened a bit with new shocks (OEM sucks), lower tire inflation and some weight in the bed. But I would never expect to get it close to the ride of a 1/2 ton truck unless big bucks are spent on a completely different suspension.
