It always chapped my a$$ back in my boating/skiing days that in Texas anyway, anyone can buy a boat and put it in the water without ever piloting a boat. I stayed off the water on the major holidays because of the inexperienced. Kinda dumb actually. Not much different than the proposed "constitutional carry" bill being pushed thru. But hey, that's Texas.....
Hopefully this will change since anybody on or after 9/1/1993 must take the education/safety course. They won't have actual in boat experience but it can't hurt.
As far as Constitution Carry, if you're a responsible gun owner the class won't teach you anything you already didn't know except where you can and cannot carry. So many people felt the same way about CHL then open carry and nothing really changed with either of them.

So you're cool with just any idiot being able to carry a loaded deadly weapon that has no clue how to shoot or handle a handgun????? And don't give me the "responsible owner" BS. We all know there are very simple ways that a non law abiding person can obtain a firearm. Without any permit or licensing, how does one tell if you're supposed to be carrying or not? I was a fantastic shot with a rifle. First time with a handgun I couldn't hit the side of a barn. Not so anymore Hell, I guess I really shouldn't have to take a driving test before I get behind the wheel.
I'm not worried about and people have been allowed to carry rifles forever, this isn't going to change a thing. Yeah, I know a pistol can be hidden and there will be people out there probably shouldn't be carrying, but that is with anything and everything - Texas still won't be the wild west, just like the other 19 states aren't.
Just because someone is carrying now you assume they have their LTC - how does one know they're supposed to be carrying?. How many people carry without one already?
And comparing a right to a privilege is apples/oranges.
And to keep on topic, this is my last post here about carrying.
Question for you King. Not trying to be "that" guy but. How much boating experience do you have? Just asking because of the WDH question. Well, if you are nervous...stay off Cedar Creek Lake. That's where we will be and where the boat will stay. Do you ask all new members on here how much 'truck' driving experience they have...in case you may end up sharing the road with them?
It's a weird flex, man. Like...hey, I'm super-duper-boater-guy, you ain't gonna ruin the lake this weekend are ya?
My boating experience ranges from 16' bass boats to 20-21' pontoon boats, to a 38' dual engine express cruiser. I've been fortunate enough to have always had a boat in a slip on the water, they didn't have to be trailered.
This boat was scheduled to be delivered to the lake, by the dealership...and then we were going to move it to our boat dock.
However, there is a multi-month backlog to get dock work performed at the lakehouse...we're having the dock completely redone for this boat and it requires a larger barge with an excavator on it to remove the existing poles and push new ones into the lakebed. The roof is getting extended and raised. A new boat lift is being installed with the appropriate cradle. They have not even started work yet and we have been in line for a couple of months.
Sooo...it was a choice of leaving a new boat at the dealership (no rental slips are available anywhere on the lake) or go buy a trailer to get it to the lake so we can enjoy it this summer.
We chose to rent an offsite storage spot 6 minutes from the lake and bought the trailer. We'll move it back and forth the 6 minutes from the storage spot to the ramp until our dock is completed.
As far as trailers, I've pulled my fair share. I used to deliver phone books and we pulled trailers all time. I have had a toy hauler and before that we pulled our atv's on a different trailer.
But, no, I've never had a boat trailer...so I asked the question. Maybe it was a dumb question, but better to get the answer from the helpful members here than becoming a hazard/danger on the road.

Not nervous as my boating days are long gone and wasn't trying to be offending. Have fun.

There is a good chance of rain/storms Friday and Saturday, so that might keep some people off the lake this weekend.
We've always gone on holiday weekends and never had any real issues.
I have seen the occasional person that can't set anchor in party cove, thunks the dock, or flies through no wake zones...but that's about it.
Wish us luck!
Thanks JK for the reminder of staying on track. I would love to talk guns, but this is not the place.
Kingofwylietx, thanks for adding to my time wasting YouTubing.
The truck pulled like a champ, no issues at all. The trailer was nicely balanced when we picked it up.
Everything went very smoothly all weekend...though we spent more time on the north side of the lake since it's less crowded.
The angle makes the boat look bigger than it really is...but here is the setup.
