Just had my 2012 6.7 powerstroke at the ford dealer for a whooshing noise when turbo was almost maxed out.
They determined it was the exhaust manifold and quoted me to replace it. They said none of the studs were broken off and that it was just air leaking.
The quote was for 3200 dollars, 800 of that is just for parts and the rest it labor.
My question is, does this quote sound reasonable? is this a common problem, the truck has 140k miles? And should I have this done, what are the implications if I don't?
I'd get a 2nd opinion. Mine was making a whooshing noise, and it turned out I had 3 broken bolts, and it was actually the gasket making the whoosh sound, and at times...was almost a whistle.
