CAT scale accuracy

A while back I was at a scrap yard with a drive-on scale and I asked a friend of mine that worked there about the accuracy. He said "you'd be surprised" and instructed my wife to go stand on the empty scale. Sure enough, it was accurate to the nearest 10 pounds! He was right: I was surprised given the worn out appearance of the scale (and everything else).
