78 400 running rich
So, after my truck was sitting for a while, I finally got the opportunity to get some things done that the truck needed. I got some fresh gas in my tank and started tuning a new carb that I installed, Edelbrock 1406. Got my initial timing at about 12° btdc, then tried to dial in the idle mixture screws like recommended, 2 turns out from fully seated until I got the highest vacuum readings at idle (around 16" hg.) on both sides. Problem I have is that it seems like the exhaust is running too rich even though it's idling good and appears to be good. Any ideas why it would be rich on the exhaust? Anybody know of a reasonably priced exhaust analyzer that can be purchased to dial it in? Or other options?
