Hey new to the forum, Does anyone know what this is? If so do I need it or should I remove it? I have a 2001 F-450 7.3 powerstroke and its has a service bed on it. Before me it was a San Diego gas and electric truck. I took it off and it has no name or info at all. Thanks in advance.

Take a picture under the truck of the exhaust. That box is common on older trucks that were converted to CA compliant and retrofitted with a DPF filter.

All I see after the turbo is the muffler

That's not a plan muffler you can see the clamps that hold the center section of a DPF filter as ford360gashog posted. Where does the line that is tapped into the exhaust just in front of the filter go? Also you have a 7.3 Powerstroke not 8.3

haha sorry yes it’s a 7.3 I suck at typing on my phone!!
okay that would make sense, I was planing on removing the muffler anyways, so now I will remove the dpf/muffler. Is that sensor in the picture normally there?? I also traced some the wires and removed the light exhaust warning thing.
