I supported my local spring shop and got some custom leaf springs made front and rear. The ride is phenomenal, but the front springs are popping during low speed turns that are driving me nuts. I know it is coming from the leaf spring, because I can visually see the main leaf and 2nd leaf moving relative to each other and making the pop noise that travels throughout the truck.
Went back to the shop, they said they just tightened the U-bolts and it went away. Didn't make much sense since I had torqued them down several times without any changes. Now a month later the popping is back. Torqued the U-bolts way over the spec of ~140 ft-lbs. Tightened the spring clamps on the forward/aft ends. Tightened the main leaf bolts. No change. I even took the leafs apart and stuck grease between the leafs, and it almost got worse.
My question is if anyone else have experienced this? I tried searching and it seems pretty uncommon. Most popping from front end appears to be coming from the sway bar (I removed mine completely) or the body mounts.
**EDIT 3/8/2022**
Gave up with the leaf springs and purchased new springs. New springs and no popping.
