back-up alarm

Something is weird with my reverse alarm. Sometimes when I put it in reverse, without even moving, the alarm starts to go off. Like I'm too close to something. (when I'm not) Any ideas?

Mine do it a lot too. From my research, there is likely dirt or humidity in them, or they are just going bad and need replaced.
It seems a lot of people have issues with them.
