Glow plugs down. Need help
I was adjusting the timing on my IP and was lining up TDC by putting a wrench across the terminals on the starter solenoid switch to crank the motor under the hood. Finished the job now I can’t get power to the key “on” terminal of the glow plug relay by the intake.
History-previous gpr was bypassed to a switch inside the cab. Before the job the wait to start light would turn on when the button was pressed to tell the glow plugs were on and off when button was released.
After I did the timing I connected the batteries and turned the key to on. This time the wait to start light was on before the button was pressed to turn the glow plugs on. I went and bought a new glow plug relay because I wanted to go back to original. The reason I think the relay was bypassed originally was because of a new steering column. Truck keys wouldn’t unlock the doors was the reasoning to that theory.
Long story short. I’ve put my volt meter on all the terminals several times. I’m stuck on why am I not getting power to the key “on” terminal of the gpr when the key is on? I’ve tried this with the new glow plug relay and with a bypassed new glow plug relay. Did I short something (fusible link) out when I was cranking the motor under the hood? I’ve checked fuse K in the fuse box under the hood and don’t have any blown fuses in the truck. I also have 12v at the constant power terminal of the gpr
Thanks FTE, I appreciate any input
