I currently have an 04 Excursion EB. The truck has some pretty bad rust issues on the rockers, and drivers side rear wheel well. I have gotten a few estimates on getting the rust repair done, however it is ASTRNOMICAL. I think I may have another Idea but I do not know how realistic it is. I am thinking of buying another EX that is rust free, and swap the cabs. The reason I don't just go buy another EX and drive it is because I just had the entire engine rebuilt, and I have a lifetime head gasket warranty. I also had a bunch of other things done to the truck. My truck is a 6.0, and my MAJOR question is would I be able to use any excursion cab from any year?
So... you think a full cab body swap would be less money?
Any other body will work.
The variants of each engine, drivetrain and MY will determine additional costs.
Example: You have an '04 6.0 if you find an immaculate '01 that had a 5.4 RWD XL you would have to change a lot of other parts (electronics, dash, rear entertainment, the list goes on).
Short answer, anything can be done with enough currency.
most likely cheaper to cut the areas off the donor and weld them to the "good running" body. Their is an Excursion for sale around here that someone dropped a tree on. such a cut donor might make more sense. A roll-over could be another option.
