Thread sealant compatible with R-134A

Almost 2 years ago I replaced the compressor and accumulator, then evacuated and charged the system. The sensor that screws into the accumulator never did seal up right, even with a new o-ring; it's been getting a small amount of oil showing up around it. 2 years ago I chose to ignore it rather than open it back up and dump all the new refrigerant into the atmosphere. But now it's finally lost enough pressure that the system doesn't work, so this is the time to fix it for good. Is there a thread sealant, compatible with R-134A and the plastic threads on the sensor, that will make sure it doesn't leak?

I'd use a LocTite thread sealant like one of those they offer for plumbing applications. If the sensor's threads won't seal even with a new O-ring that might be the best and quickest solution.

Also look into using #290 aka "green" as its a penetrating sealant but might not seep past the o-ring if trying to use it after installation.

Is it necessary to add any oil or UV dye after a slow leak like this?

Only real option is a new O ring and use nylog red on the o ring or use Loctite 554 on the threads. My guess is the o ring sealing surface is machined wrong on the accumulator.

That seems to be the sealant to use on refrigeration systems---thanks for sharing that info, glad to be just slightly smarter this morning than yesterday!

I stopped by a refrigeration supply place and was told that Nylog has been discontinued.

However, I replaced that pressure sensor and leak has disappeared.
