I hate to start a new thread on this, because I know that I have seen this issue before. But I can't find the thread.
Truck was running fine, parked it about 3 days ago, of course in the airport parking lot. Came out to the truck today, from the ignition on, wait for the wait to start to go out, and sure enough no crank no start. It's not even turning over. I'm sure this is a simple problem.
I remember hearing things about the ICP sensor, but I think that's when it has a crank and no start. I disconnected it anyways to see if maybe that was it. I've been meaning to change it, because I think it is on its way out. Still no crank no start.
What is the most most common no crank no start issue, because I can guarantee you that's what it is. I'm going to go back tonight, check batteries, check voltage. Alternator and both batteries were placed last year,. If it's not something simple enough to have done in the parking lot, going to have it towed home...
Do you hear a click when you try to start? Good to check your battery connections.
Wondering if the starter relay is engaging. If I remember correctly, your 03 doesn't have a starter relay on the passenger fender, so you can't try that check. It's a standard Bosch style relay in the fuse/relay box under the dash. Try swapping that with another relay.
there is a single wire on the passenger side fender that you can pop the connector apart and touch to batt positive to energize the starter to see if it's working.
maybe check starter bolts are secure
Edit: for an example of how to use the single wire touching the battery positive watch this video at about minute 2 30. This video is for a 6.0 but the 02 and 03 have the same wire

I forgot to add that I did that. I did the shifter in the neutral, let off the brake let it roll a little bit put it back in the park. With my body power move the truck back and forth a little bit. And tried it, I've had that problem before. But I did not do the bypass to the battery, I will try that. I'm about to go to the airport right now and have it towed back to the house. It's a free tow with aaa
All right gentlemen, it was the starter. I'm not even going to have it towed. I connected that wire to the positive terminal, per one person's reply, there was a No crank response. I then got underneath the truck and tapped it with a screwdriver, put the wire back on the positive lead again, and a very weak crank. Connected that wire backward was supposed to go, got in the truck, and it fired up.
I don't know if anybody on this thread remembers my leak in the valley post from about a month and a half ago, well when I cleaned out the truck, that oil went somewhere. I noticed large amounts of oil in the vicinity of the starter. Also, that starter does not look new at all. It's very old. So I am going to pitch a ride with someone tomorrow to the airport and get my truck, and just replace the starter.
Any recommendations on additional things I should do down there besides just cleaning the leads, I'm going to do a very good cleaning job down there but is there anything else?
And as always, once again thank you for fixing my problem..
