Just putting together an order for a '22 F-350 7.3, Lariat 4x4, Short Bed w/ most options but can't find any information on the Loading Ramps option. Seems like a smart idea for 4 wheelers, ride on lawn mowers etc. Anyone have any real world experience with these?
I had a 2015 F150 with the ramps.
They are heavy duty, well constructed, and work well. They stow on the bed sides nicely but most of the time they were on the garage wall because they interfered with my tonneau cover. I really liked that they latch on the tail gate, and will not slip off when use.
@Screamingbear Guess I didn't realize they had been an order option for that long. Good to know they latch on. How did they interfere with the Tonneau? Mine is coming with a Kargo Master Pro II rack. Do the ramps mount that close to the top rails? @adllewis42 Truck will be drop shipped to Monroe for the rack and a Boss Plow install. Hoping the ramps come in handy with loading my walk behind track plow. Seems easier to always have them attached and stowed than loose.
The ramps themselves are nicely made, and mount securely in the brackets.
They are a bit pricey for what they are, but if ordered with the truck, they are much cheaper than getting them afterwards from Ford Accessories.
They will interfere with a cover, particularly a hard cover. With my Bak X4, with the ramps in the brackets, they sit too high in the bracket to allow the cover to roll closed and sit properly in the rails. Also, the rail on the metal plate that is mounted on the tailgate will hit the latches of the cover, and also the weather-stripping along the back end of the cover. I trimmed 2-3" off each corner of the plate to clear the latches (I wouldn't need the ramps to be that far out anyway), and pulled the weatherstripping off the cover (I may try to replace it with a thinner piece at some point, but I'm not overly concerned with the cover being 100% water-tight. If I need to use the ramps to carry a motorcycle, I can mount them in brackets and just leave the cover open, but I don't need them that often so mostly they're just stored in the garage.
@LMychajluk So they are fully adjustable laterally on the tail gate? Sounds like they would also interfere with any toppers. Must not interfere with the factory tonneau's or can they not be ordered together? Ford doesn't seem to give any details at all about them online and my dealer had only 5 SD's on the lot and none with this option. Thanks
They do interfere with a below bed rail mount tonneau but not an on rail mount tonneau. I always intended to lower the bracket to cure the interference with my bakflip but never got around to it. The mounting brackets don’t interfere, so in practice I leave my ramps hung up in the garage when not in use and when I’m going to use them the tonneau cover gets folded up anyway so the interference doesn’t matter.
@Section179 Assume that's the factory spray in bed liner? Always gone after market due to seeing such low quality from factory sprayed on liners in the past. QC and/or application techniques must have improved.

i think it’s excellent. It’s not a grippy as linex but I find I actually prefer it being smoother for sliding things in and out. More reminiscent of a plastic liner.
the thickness and lines on install are excellent IMO.
one last note- the bracket for the ramps is an awesome tailgate lip protector. Been pleased with that.
