So I have a 2000 f150 and the back is making a weird noise when I’m in any gear except park and I only hear when I’m stopped waiting On a light or stop or whatever any ideas
It helps if you state how many miles the truck has, the configuration (engine, transmission), etc.
Also, can you describe the sound? metallic, rattle, sound that changes pitch, sound that gets louder with wheel speed, same in reverse as a forward gear, same pitch, sound you can only hear with the window down, coming from the left, coming from the right....
It could be anything from loose exhaust, binding brake(s), a bad bearing, bad U joint, final drive, etc.
2000 f150 4wd 5.4 triton v8 it only does it whenaftwr I hit the brake and I’m stopped but still in drive doesn’t do it in park but it does In drive. A friend of mine got it stuck for two days in the mud when she brought it back it had a flat tire a x. Noise like a rattle or the same sound as something rolling in the bed if the truck
Take it to a transmission shop and let them look at it. Could be a transmission noise or a transfer case one as both of these are turning to a point in gear and not in park.
