Somebody help me out how to operate the fuel lid and plastic cord that attaches it. This is the most painful one I’ve ever had I need two hands to open or close it. F’n 50 cent cap on a 80k truck. Twists up drives me nuts,
You have me curious to know if the gas cap is different on the 2021 compared to my 19. I have never really had a problem with my cap, not enough to bother me.
My ‘21 is the same Cat-alac. Drives me nuts the way it wraps around the cap. May be a 1st world problem. I’m just thankful I live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. At least for now!
I read in another post a little bit ago about using silicone spray to lube the plastic lanyard ring. I'll be trying that today to see if it makes it any better. I have a hard time believing that nobody complained about these during R&D.
On my list of things to do the day I get my truck. Lube the filler cap lanyard.
A case of not leaving well enough alone. The 15 year old lanyard on my F150 has never had such an issue. It attaches to the middle of the cap, not the edge.
I'm just happy we have a cap. I'm coming from a Ram who doesn't use caps although the dealer forgot to remove the red shipping plug so I used that for a few years. I know after market makes magnetic ones but still. Considering how fragile our lift pumps are I'm happy to keep outside humidity, dust and debri out of my fuel tank.....poorly designed cap or not.
My truck is a late 20 and I have the same argument with the fuel cap. My 17 cap just fit in place and I never gave the lanyard a thought. I have to be very precise in how I put the cap back in place and use my other hand to hold the lanyard while I twist. So yeah, something changed
