I'm reluctant to try Fram oil. At least one of their filter line is referred to as "the orange can of death"
Motorcraft oil is what comes from the factory and it's about the cheapest thing you can get at WalMart.
I must be a lucky SOB. I've used Fram filters almost exclusively since 1980 on multiple vehicles and equipment. Some vehicles have gone near or over 100K miles and I've owned some equipment for over 16 years. Never an engine issue. Whew! Dodged a bullet. I need better friends.
If you have the motortrend app on Amazon prime (firestick), Engine Masters did a filter comparison and obviously Fram’s first 2 levels of filter were hardly acceptable construction with cardboard internals. The high end one was acceptable though.
Long story short, I wouldnt dissuade you from Fram if it was the last thing left on the shelf.

Me too. Ever since I was I teenager with a 73 Chevy Nova I always thought Fram filters were top of the line and perhaps back then they were. But I've seen some objective reports that state otherwise. Turns out the Motorcraft filter that came on the truck is one of the best.
I kept my friends though. Most of them, anyway. But back on topic, you can bet Fram buys from someone. Now to find out what's really in the jug.
The reason I run the motorcraft filter and oil is because they have pretty generous oil change intervals with that stuff in it from the factory. No reason to over think it and I am not a fan of synthetic in higher mileage engines.
On that engine masters show I mentioned they gave the motorcraft filter pretty good marks and the quality looked like quality parts and average micron rating for different oil types. Had a simple but superior bypass system as well.

I used to use Fram also. Then, I leaned how crappy they were and have remedied my ways. You can ignore the data and keep using Fram until you finally do have a problem or do something proactive and switch to something better for your vehicle. Not like the Motorcraft filters are expensive, they're usually right on par with Fram.
Fram for some reasoning, I think earlier marketing, seems to be thought of as a good product with the public. I have heard a few stories and research about them that I think they are junk. We know they don't make their own oil it's someone else's, why bother.
