6.0 Knocking and smoking around turbo after egr and oil cooler replacement
After the egr and oil cooler replacement, I had flushed the transmission fluid and was topping it off when it started knocking and smoking near the turbo. I ran and shut the key off. After talking with a diesel mechanic friend that suggested it could be the injectors, I started it up and it ran smoothly but there was some oil spurting out of the large 12” ring clamp on the turbo. Also out of the downpipe clamp on passenger side.
what would cause oil to come out of the turbo like that? Could it have to do with the ball check valve where the oil feed line is?
the job was smooth and there was no problems. No extra parts and I have all my tools. I dont know if the knocking could be coming from the turbo for some reason since the smoke was right in that area.
a friend said that it sounds like an injector since I just replaced all of them too with “new” refurbished Navistars.
pic shows smoke and light oil spurting out of the hole in the giant ring clamp on the turbo
any advice as to where to start would greatly be appreciated.

Update
So mechanic says that there is massive amounts of fuel getting pushed in. He said he had to take out a glow plug on cylinder 8 to get some out and that it’s not oil coming out of turbo, it’s fuel.
he suspects more than one even though his gauges were showing cylinder 8. He’s going to remove the plugs to see if there’s excess fuel inside.
he’s going to swap some used injectors to see if that helps.
I told him that I did the blue spring kit and maybe that has to do with it.

Mechanic says it’s possible that the oring on the injector is torn or not seated right and causing it to **** fuel in the engine. He said it dumped like a half gallon of fuel out the tail pipe in 10-15sec.
he also said it may be a stuck pintle in the injector.
He’ll figure it out by noon Monday.

lets cross our fingers that it didn’t blow a head gasket. If some excess coolant can do it, then a **** ton of fuel certainly can.

TAMERX is a company that supplied some of the IPR air test fittings that did not fit very well. Hopefully the injectors did come in a Ford box, but I have my suspicions as to the source of their products - mainly because of their pricing AND on some feedback scores on some of their smaller stuff.
As I told a good friend recently - I have some trust issues when it comes to the 6.0L ......
