Oh Yes, I know, and I appreciate it. I was just emphasizing the importance of a stout trouble free box and what one can do with scrap and an el cheapo welder.

My battery support shelf looks like the one in Kellem's post (#6). I'm using a Noco battery box similar to what seventyseven250 described in his post (#8). My battery box is not bolted to the shelf. I tried the strap that came with the battery box but hated it. I've been using a 2" wide velcro strap for the past four years and it's worked fine. The battery and box have stayed in place.
I used the same velcro strap on a battery box that held two GC2 6v batteries. It worked fine there also.

I did this over 10 years ago. A couple of pieces of angle welded to the tongue and the box if bolted down to that. Picked up the checker pattern steel box for around 30 bucks on sale. One battery in a plastic box plus extra storage for stuff. Lockable so the battery is still there when I want it and accessible to clip on the solar panel connections.
