I bought an exterior spare tire carrier from a 1985 Bronco at the junkyard and I have a couple of questions.

First, I've heard some people online talk about square corners versus rounded corners and I don't know what they mean. Does anyone know which variety mine is?

Second, this is from an 85 but I want to put it on an 89. Will it fit or were the Bricknose exterior spare tire setups different?

Square versus round is about the hinges that mount on the body. It looks like you have square ones.

 

You also needed the tailgate and body internal gusseting or the spare mount will rip the bodywork appart when a spare is mounted.

 

I had outside mount on 78 and hated it. Squeaked and creaked, made stress cracks on tailgate and quarter panel. It was a factory install with the reinforcements, pita every time you wanted in the rear. I removed it and just laid the spare in the rear. They always did look cool though.
