Steering box sloppy (THAT topic...)
The wheel is loose/sloppy. It turns 10-15 degrees (maybe more) before any resistance. The pitman arm doesn't move until the resistance is felt.
I reached down and grabbed the input shaft. It turns easily, same as wheel. Between the steering box and steering wheel, all is tight. But I can hear gears slopping in the steering box.
Arrrggghhh....
What should I try next? The allen bolt adjustment?
Ball joints are tight, etc. I've already checked that stuff. It seems all the slop is in the steering gearbox.

Labor was done by shop. They did well, even fixed a line leak. They won't warranty parts they didn't handle.
Note; my hand-tests were when truck was OFF.
I noticed occassionally when it was running, driving low speeds, it was very responsive. But as I drove more, got up to speed 25mph+ it gets loose again.
could this be problem with power steering hydraulics? Hydroboost system? (I know little about these)
What should I try next?

try taking the vehicle to a shop that specializes in fullsize ford trucks, probably a diesel shop but they should have the know how.
with your description I have my hunch but that is not going to help you and without me driving the vehicle it is just a hunch
the odds of it being the back lash is minimum to not very likely. in other words no don't mess with the backlash screw unless you understand how to set back lash.
fwiw, there is always about 10* of "free play* even when the vehicle was brand new, this is the amount of travel that the torsion spring needs to twist before it modulates the hydraulic portion of the power steering. your "looseness' is likely not the box and to find it takes a complete inspection.
