Hey folks,
Can someone help me identify the steering box that is shown in the diagram below? I have a 67 F250 M/T 4wd. I've looked through the Fordification site and it doesn't seem to be the steering box that was "supposed" to be on my truck. I can't find anything in the service manual that matches what's in my truck. The box in the drawing is the closest one I've seen. I have 2 issues, what lubrication does it take (I'm sure its oil instead of grease) and I need to replace the seal behind the pitman arm. I'm looking for some references for this steering box. Thanks in advance.
Hey Rich, that picture looks very similar to what's in my truck. The red cover on the side is a little different, but it has the same configuration as mine.
Hey Jeffafa, of course the steering gear doesn't have any tag on it. I haven't taken the unit out of the truck, but I cleaned it as best I could and didn't see any marks or castings on the parts that I could see.
I found this picture on the internet that looks like my steering box. Can't seem to find a manual to get the parts I need.
I am no help there. I have no service manual for the truck. All I have is a 1961-1971 Chiltons Truck Repair Manual. Here is all i have on the steering gear in these two pics from the book.
I wanted to re seal mine before putting it in on my 72 resto project. I didnt find parts so it was cleaned and painted and bolted back in. I searched again after seeing your thread and didnt find anything. I hope you find something.
Hey man, you were a huge help. With the photo of your steering gear, I found a part list on Fordification.
Input shaft seal is C7TZ-3591-A and the output shaft seal is D2HZ-3591-D.
I was able to find the output seal. Still looking for the input guy.
Very much appreciate all your information.
Also appreciate Jefffafa and RichS for chiming in.
Take care,
Jeff
C7TA3504H crosses to part number C7TZ3504A. Which is a Ross brand model 375 M/S box. Parts list 42. Which does list the two numbers posted. OP, are you going to need any gaskets, bearings, and their races?
No C7TZ3591A found at the N.O.S. parts places I know of. It may have been industry part number 032324. Try local parts stores or bearing stores.
D2HZ3591D is shown at the following.

Thanks so much for this information. You guys really make this a great forum.
I think I'm just going to do the seals at this point. The steering gear works great, it just holds liquids less efficiently than I do anymore.
Take care, Jeff
