I have a 2004 Ford Excursion 4x4 with the 6.0 and 213k miles. Last week went to start it up and it started shaking bad at an idle. Let it warm up and it was still shaking bad. Next day, same thing, but I took it on a short drive to see if that helped. Still idles rough at stoplights, but once it goes into overdrive, it shakes so bad you would think that you’re going over rumble strips.
I’m new to the 6.0s, as the excursion was given to me. I know it had the HPOP replaced around 170k or so.
I changed the fuel filters (motorcraft) and it still is the same.
Any ideas on what it could be? Was running great until last week
Bad #8 injector and, unless you are deleted, a bad EGR valve (make sure the connector is securely plugged in and the wiring is ok).
I wouldn't drive it until the injector is replaced.
If you have the money, and plan on keeping the truck for a long time, it might be worth changing all 4 on the drivers side since it will be opened up for the #8 repair.
That said, many folks have had success with just replacing a single, bad, injector.
