I'm picking up an 88 351W with a C6 from my buddy this weekend. It's a great clean truck and it'll do great towing my horses.
One thing, it has a relatively significant rear main leak (sandwich sized leak on the driveway), and I have a 9 hour drive back to dixie from Michigan.
I'm perfectly okay with topping it off and watching the level on the drive home. I'll replace the seal in my garage once I'm home.
However, I'm worried about a catastrophic failure of the seal. Has anyone ever heard of a rear main "blowing" and gushing oil into the road?
