Check my thread on Mark's kit. I wired it direct to an empty fuse slot, I think I grounded the pump to battery as highest level of capacitance. Hmm been a while!

I also use some OE relays that were laying around.

Speaking of which, great time to verify all of your Maxi fuses are correct amperage and in correct slots.

So I don't have it currently wired into the fuse box. I use the Strictly Diesel OBS wiring harness (about 4 years now?) and it uses the 5 position (i think marine type? ) large 5 pin relay. It comes with a fusable link lead wire at the battery. Other than it pretty much wires to the fuel pump. I will update once I get the new relay, hopefully today.

Okay, quick update, things got worse....

The new relay came in this morning and I was able to throw it on and turned the key, pump was running! Lunch time comes, I try and start the truck, runs horrible (no fuel) and dies. I turn the truck off, turn the key back on.... no fuel pump. I believe I just blew the brand new relay.

DISCLAIMER: I hate/don't understand and avoid anything electrical! Multimeter is a torture.

So here's what I'm thinking and someone please save me from myself. I went to the auto store and got a basic 20 amp on/off switch. I'm going to run directly from the battery to the pump and see if works. Why? Because now when I try and jump the pins on the relay base....no power there.

Last point of clarification... the battery that the pump is connected to with the harness (drivers side) is getting vampire drained. Have to charge for 30 minutes before trying again.

Welcome the questions everyone. I'm perplexed of how basic this setup is and it's not working.

Good morning, here's the update:

I did the basic jump again on the base of the relay and I was able to get power and got the truck started. Looked under the hood at my fuel pressure gauge and hit a solid 60psi. I shut the truck off and put the new relay that I got yesterday back on and it started up ran fine. I went back this morning, letting it set overnight, and it started up fine. Weird? yes but it's running.

Am I hundred percent confident yet? no but I'm going to drive it around the neighborhood today and see if I have any issues. I'm also going to watch the batteries to see if I still have a draw.

I will keep everyone updated but it's moving forward.

Update: Drove around town yesterday. Running good so far. Truck is starting good, don't seem to have a parasitic draw that I thought, but I plan doing a check anyways (need to teach myself this stuff). I haven't run it on the freeway yet but plan on doing it this week. Fingers crossed. Thanks to Hit Man and others for all the support!

Okay, update time. I have been driving around for a week or two, pretty much on stock tune on the Hydra. I have adjusted it a couple of times and it seemed to be working fine. I just left the grocery store down the street a few minutes ago and switched tunes.... truck immediately died on me, had to coast into a parking lot. Turned the key off, turned it back on... reset the tune to stock and it started. At this point I seem to have an issue with the Hydra. Thinking that I need to pull the panel and make sure it's still seated properly, but I am seriously thinking that is not it. Any thoughts or ideas of why this would happen?

When did you switch the tune? You want to make sure you're at an idle when you switch. Takes a second for the pcm to change settings.

You are running default tunes or are these custom tunes?

Edge, I'm getting your point but it got me thinking... isn't it the goal to be able to switch tunes on the fly? For example, if you are pulling a trailer on one tune, and you head up into some foothills or mountain grades and want to switch, are you pulling over and adjusting before moving on? Super curious because that could have been my issue (or lack of understanding the "on the fly")

These are default tunes for my PCM. Pretty much stock sticks/hpop/tranny...

So PHP responded to a thread of mine in their support forum. They suggested that I may have a connection issue with the chip to the PCM. I'm going to pull it out again and check it a second time (just to make sure).

i always switched mine while driving and no issues. Not sure how it would work with an auto (of you have one)
